This blog explores the potential of art making together with those living with a dementia. Olivia Hassett explores some of the groundbreaking and exciting processes of co-creation through the development of THREE projects.
Project 3 – ART@home art packs: In the past few months Olivia Hassett has drawn from her experiences of working alongside the clients in the Rose Cottage ASI dementia day care centre. In conjunction with Mary Bardin from the ASI Hassett has developed eight different ART@home art packs, which have been designed for both ASI client and his/her carer to work alonside each other in their own time in the comfort of their home.
Each of the eight different art pack explores a different art material, theme, offers inspiration and specific techniques and project guidelines. The art packs are currently being delivered by the ASI one at a time every few weeks to 30 homes in the vicinity of Tallaght. To celebrate this project there will be an online exhibition of some of the artworks completed by the clients and carers in 2021.
Project 1 & 2 – Co-creation workshops R&D: In 2019 and early 2020 she researched developed and facilitated workshops with a group of clients attending Rose Cottage, an Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland (ASI) Dementia Daycare center in South Dublin.
The following blog posts map the process of all three of these exciting projects in more detail.
